Our practice has been in Mitchelton since 1983, it was started by the principal dentist , Mark Watson and has expanded over the years to include Peter Hopkins (13 years), Andy Wang (10 years) and now Yu Yao Teoh ( 1 year) our newest dentist.
Between us we have combined our knowledge and expertise to perform high quality, pain free dentistry and give you the healthy, confident smile you deserve.
We perform all facets of dentistry including, cosmetic dentistry, crown and bridgework, implants, root canal, bleaching, dentures and extractions.
Mark graduated from Sydney University and did a short stint working part time in Blacktown before accepting a job in an endodontics (root canal) specialist practice in Newcastle, before moving to Brisbane to start work in Mitchelton and has been there ever since. He enjoys all aspects of dentistry but particularly enjos crowns and implants. His hobbies include playing squash, music and gardening
Debbie completed high school and worked in the taxation department before moving to Brisbane and is now our practise manager. Debbie is responsible for Infection control, ordering, rosters and patient satisfaction. Her hobbies include her family, cooking , travelling and gardening.
Peter graduated from the University of Queensland with Honours in 1986 and has been working for 30 years, half of that time in this practice.
He is keenly interested in preventive dentistry and maintaining his patients teeth for as long as possible.
Outside oe of dentistry his first love is sailing and is a RYA offshore yacht master as well as a qualified designer.
He is a very keen traveller and is seeing as much of the world and Australia as possible and is often hiking, cycling sea kayaking in some of the most isolated parts of the world as the photos in his surgery show.
Melissa is one of our senior nurses and holds the DAA certificate 4.Melissa was born and raised in Mitchelton, and has worked in a videostore and childcare. She came to us at age 20, and is these days a happily married mother of three which makes her our longest serving dental assistant/receptionist.
She enjoys the beach, family and friends and movies.
Emlyn is another part time dental assistant who is studying law at QUT, she has worked as a dental assistant since 2011 in both general practice and paediatrics.
In her time off Emlyn is a een traveller and enjoys choral music and long distance hiking.
Yu Yao Teoh
Yao graduated with honours from the University of Queensland in 2014 and worked briefly in full-time practice but the desire to learn more and expand his knowledge in dentistry drew him back to the university as a post-graduate research student. He is experimenting on a new dental bio-material that will hopefully improve the outcomes of root-canal therapy.
In between treating patients and research work, he is privileged to be involved in the training of future dentists.
He enjoys engaging with people and working clinically which makesl dentistry a real joy for him.
As Yao says ” I believe dentistry is not just a trade but rather a relationship with a patient that extends far beyond teeth alone. I do enjoy getting to know you (and your family) which I feel is the only way to provide the best care possible. Preventative dentistry is important to me so feel free to ask me any questions on maintaining your oral health – I will do my best to keep it short!”
Ebony is one of our junior nurses and is working part time with us while she completes her University degree. She is a hardworking pleasant young lady who enjoys her friends , the gym and most outdoor activities.
Andy graduated from the University of Queensland in 2000 and worked at Caboolture and Redcliffe hospitals for 2 and a half years before heading off to London where he worked for 2 years in private practice before returning to Brisbane for he started working for us in 2007.
Outside of dentistry Andy enjoys music, musicals, water sports and most outdoor activities.
Jade is one of our senior staff, she has been with us since early 2013 and is proficient in all aspects of her job.
Outside of dentistry she is studying IT , loves pasta and music, she collects synths and is the proud mother of two cats
Belinda is another of our senior staff, she is a married mum of two and works part time, when not being busy with her family.
Belinda has been with us since 2008 and received her dental assisting certificate 3 in 2008, she has also worked for a year in Scotland.
In her time off she is a keen gardener, enjoys gardening and having day trips with her young family.
